Privacy notice

Updated October 21, 2026. This notice explains what DinnerWinner collects, why, and the choices you have.

Who operates DinnerWinner?

DinnerWinner is developed by mally.dev. Contact privacy@dinnerwinner.app about privacy, access, correction, or deletion.

Information used

The app uses account identifiers, email addresses and display names for sign-in; household membership and invite codes; saved dishes and recipe details; voting participation and totals; rewards and profile choices; optional profile photos; and notification tokens. Google or Apple sign-in may supply a name, email address, and profile image reference. DinnerWinner does not receive your Google or Apple password.

Taste summaries: how often you say Nom, Nah or Supervote to dishes with a given tag, at a given meal, and to each dish, and which dishes you picked in each poll. These are kept on our servers and are not shown in the app. Household totals (which dishes win, when polls are made) are visible to your household admin.

Why it is used

This information enables sign-in, household sharing, meal voting, saved recipes, optional notifications, progress and rewards, support, and abuse prevention. Household members see shared cookbook and voting information and selected profile presentation.

Website analytics

This website (dinnerwinner.app) can use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It stays off unless you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you accept, Google sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, browser and approximate location. It is separate from the in-app choice above and we do not use it for advertising. You can change your choice at any time: cookie choices.

Purchases, gifts and tips

Paid themes, gifts and tips are paid through Google Play or the App Store, which handle your payment details; DinnerWinner never receives your card number. We use RevenueCat to check purchases and restore them. RevenueCat receives your DinnerWinner account ID, the product you bought and the store's purchase record, and sends our servers a notice so we can unlock the theme. For a gift we also record who it was for, so the recipient receives it. We keep a record of tips (the product and your account ID) to count them and reverse them if a store refunds one.

Services and external websites

Google Firebase provides authentication, databases, storage, backend processing, notifications, and diagnostic services. Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring collect crash reports and app-speed diagnostics with device information. Data may be processed outside your country.

Usage analytics (only if you agree)

After you sign in, DinnerWinner asks whether you want to share usage data. Only if you agree, Google Analytics for Firebase records how the app is used: screens opened, and actions such as creating a poll, submitting a vote, importing or saving a recipe, or starting a timer. Each record carries categories and counts only (for example the meal type, the number of dishes, the hour of the day or whether an import worked), together with your account ID, device type, app version and approximate country. It never includes your name, email address, recipe titles, ingredients, links or household name. We use it to understand which features help households decide on meals and where the app needs work. It is not used for advertising, and advertising identifiers are not collected. Records are kept for 14 months. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Share usage data.

Separately, to count how the service is used overall (for example how many polls households run each week), we keep an analysis copy of household, poll and recipe records in our own Google Cloud project. It holds the same information the app already stores, is not shared with anyone else, and is deleted along with the original records.

Stock-photo searches use Unsplash and Pexels. Recipe imports request the public website you choose through the backend. Those providers receive the requests needed to perform these actions. Following a source or photographer link opens an external website with its own privacy practices.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and its date.

Choices and deletion

You can decline camera, photo and notification permissions. Contact us to access or correct account information or request account deletion. Leaving a household deletes your taste summaries for it, and deleting your account deletes them everywhere along with the record of which dishes you picked in each poll. Deleting an account removes private account data; shared recipes and anonymous voting totals may remain for other household members. We will identify any backup retention in the deletion response.

Audience and cost

DinnerWinner is for adults and teens aged 13 and older in Canada and the United States, with adult household administrators. It is not intended for children under 13. The app is free to use and has no advertising; optional themes and tips are paid for through the stores, as described above.
